Juri Gik was born in Kaliningrad in 1971 and has lived in Pushkino (Moscow area) since 1996. He is a mail artist, visual poet, and researcher of twentieth century art. Gik organized several exhibitions related to mail art in Moscow, the Moscow area, and Ural. These public events included exhibitions/lectures by German mail artist, Peter Netmail and by American mail artist, John Held Jr. Gik published the first anthology of artistamps on CD ROM in Russia called the "Encyclopedy of Collector" (Cyrill & Methodius, 1999). Gik has lectured about mail art and visual poetry in Moscow (Russian Science Academy in 2001 and 2003, Academy of Slavic culture in 2003) and St.Petersburg (Museum of Communication in 2003) and has participated in more then 150 mail art and art exhibitions all over the world with his visual works published in many different mail art catalogues.
