Sunset Sail

Blessed are the narrow who slide
among cracks and build monuments to
slats. For long have I awaited
such news as now passes comment -
news of my comrades lost long
at sea. It was in the following winter
that word was received in a foreign
tongue that one who had refused
solace for some these fifteen months
had taken the hand of his born
foe and danced the Hokey Pokey with
the abandon of clues at
sunset. Such light that fails
me, like sticks in mission
sand, voracious melody of
hardly heard vibrations, potable
allegiance subsumed in the tube.
